Tegallaleng Rice Terraces

– Just North of the center of Ubud, Bali, lies to sprawling Tegallaleng Rice Terraces.

The landscape consists of an entire valley filled with tiered lush land used for growing rice. It is incredible that such a system was built entirely by hand, and uses an ancient irrigation system with water from the rainforests above.

Upon arrival, you are greeted by friendly locals welcoming you onto the property. With the help of a tour guide or solo, visitors have the opportunity to walk down through the tiered land to get an up-close look at the gorgeous landscape. Our driver Nova who is a local of Bali, escorted us through the trails leading all the way through the terraced land. Along the way, natives sit in their palm thatched huts offering local fruits and coconut water.

On the day of our visit, the sun was beaming through the palm trees onto the rice terraces, making for the perfect photo opportunities. The landscape itself is truly magnificent and almost hard to believe until you’ve seen it for yourself. Make sure you stop by on your next visit to Bali!
