During the 2021 IAA Mobility show in Munich, Mercedes Benz unveiled a new line-up of electric vehicles under the Mercedes EQ moniker, including the Concept EQG – Mercedes New Electric G-Wagon.
Officially known as the Concept EQG, the all-electric G-Wagon is reportedly near production-ready to coincide with the full EQ line-up, bringing the Mercedes fleet into the future with fully electric passenger vehicles. Concept EQG elevates the iconic G-Wagon vehicle with a nostalgic yet modern aesthetic – complete with two tone body framing and glowing accents. As is, the body style remains in-line with the current G-Wagon having a boxy and elevated appearance. The addition of plate-style rims, fully illuminated front grill, and of course the electric engine certainly take the G-Wagon to a new dimension fit for the future of eco-conscious transportation.
At this time, the Concept EQG is just that – a concept – with no official pricing, specs, or availability dates being released as of yet. There is no indication of the battery size, power output of it’s electric motors, total range, etc. but we do know (expectedly) it will be four wheel drive, and have a high and low gear options. Plus, with the G-Wagen already a status symbol in the Mercedes benz line, we’re sure Mercedes will add a suite of extras and tech-friendly additions to maintain the iconic G-Wagon legacy.
