The luxurious Oasis superyacht, built by Lürssen, has undergone a significant makeover and expansion at the Lusben shipyard in Italy, which falls under the umbrella of Azimut – Benetti. Originally measuring 195 feet in length, the yacht, which was constructed in 2006, has now been impressively elongated to a remarkable 207 feet.
This remarkable vessel, Oasis Yacht, first graced the Livorno-based shipyard in 2021. On this second visit, the owner entrusted Lusben with the task of executing a complex extension to create a more spacious and sociable beach club. The comprehensive project spanned close to half a year, resulting in an expertly executed and structurally impressive expansion of both the beach club area and the stern platform.
According to a spokesperson from the yard, the outcomes of these modifications have been consistently positive. Sea trials have demonstrated notable improvements in terms of both speed and fuel consumption, building upon the already excellent results achieved during tank tests conducted in the Netherlands prior to the commencement of the refit. In conjunction with the structural changes, interior enhancements have also been carried out, encompassing the installation of new teak surfaces and fresh paintwork on the main and upper decks.
To provide unobstructed views of the surrounding sea, a distinctive glazed central section has been incorporated into the design. Gianni Paladino, the Commercial Director at Lusben, expressed his satisfaction with the completed refit project on Oasis, highlighting the trust and confidence displayed by the captain and owner in Lusben’s capabilities.
Paladino praised the synergy established between project management, the work team, the captain, and the entire crew, emphasizing how this collaborative effort enabled the successful completion of this intricate project within a relatively short timeframe, all to the full satisfaction of the owner. This achievement reaffirms Lusben’s proficiency in undertaking complex refits and substantial modifications on leisure vessels of varying sizes, regardless of their original shipyard of origin.
Formerly owned by Eric Schmidt, an enthusiast of yachts and the former Chairman at Google’s Alphabet Inc, the Oasis ship now embodies a fresh chapter in its maritime journey. Schmidt, who sold the l in 2017, has since ventured into a new acquisition, the Alfa Nero superyacht. However, this latest purchase has been ensnared in a web of legal complications, rendering the yacht immobile in Antigua due to unresolved legalities.
