Mayla’s latest creation, the Mayla GT, takes center stage as one of the most thrilling boats at Boot Düsseldorf, promising to blend the exhilarating performance of a speedboat with the luxurious features of a motor yacht, all neatly packaged in cutting-edge carbon fiber.
Conceived by German start-up Mayla, this 44-footer pays homage to the high-speed boats of the 1970s and ’80s, boasting an angular, retro-futuristic design reminiscent of a rocket ship. Weighing in at a mere 4.5 tons, its lightweight construction incorporates a deep-V hull with twin transversal steps and patented Petestep deflectors, enabling seamless navigation through waves. Mayla asserts that these deflectors reduce energy consumption by up to 35%, ensuring more efficient planning.
The Mayla GT offers versatility in powertrains, allowing the choice of gas, diesel, electric, or hybrid options. The top-tier GTR-R model features dual gas engines generating 3,100 hp, propelling the boat to a staggering top speed of over 100 knots (115 mph). On the eco-friendly side, the E-GT employs an electric powertrain, producing 2,200 horses for a max speed of 50 knots.
For a hybrid approach, the E-GTR combines the electric powertrain with a 400 hp diesel engine, reaching a top speed of 60 knots (69 mph). The entry-level version spotted at Boot sported two V8s producing 650 hp and achieving a top speed of over 70 knots.
Beyond its high-speed capabilities, the GT’s multipurpose cockpit accommodates up to eight passengers, featuring a sundeck with sliding loungers, a wet bar with BBQ, and a foldaway dining table for outdoor entertaining. Towards the stern, a beach club atop an electric transom door garage adds to the vessel’s allure.
Designed for more than day trips, the GT caters to overnight stays with a below-deck cabin offering a double bed, sofa, wardrobe, vanity, and en suite. The cabin is equipped with a high-tech entertainment system, complete with TVs and premium audio.
In terms of pricing, the GT with the entry-level powertrain falls in the range of $1.74 million to $1.85 million (€1.6 million to €1.7 million), subject to the final configuration choices. Prospective buyers can schedule a sea trial with Mayla, with test drives set to commence this spring in Europe.
