We’ve seen a huge array of Gran Turismo Concepts from many different manufacturers in the last decade, but the latest Gran Turismo Concept is shaking up the world of virtual motorsports. During the Gran Turismo World Series 2022 Nations Cup Grand Final in Monaco, Ferrari revealed the Ferrari Vision Gran Turismo. With the introduction of the brand new Ferrari Gran Turismo Concept, Ferrari is finally giving the gaming community what it always wanted, and the final result is absolutely stunning.
The Ferrari Vision Gran Turismo is a single-seater concept car, with a futuristic design that pays homage to Ferrari’s unequaled racing heritage inspired by Ferrari’s hugely successful 1960s and ‘70s sports-prototypes. The straight-line rear end with its beautiful light bar evokes the 512 S, while the rear wing and rear diffuser are inspired by the Ferrari 499P Le Mans hypercar.
The car houses the same 120-degree 3-litre turbo V6 engine adopted on the 296 GTB, 296 GTS and 296 GT3 that also powers the new 499P. The engine produces 1,016bhp on its own and nearly 1,350bhp in combination with the three paired electric motors – one on the rear axle and two on the front for all-wheel drive. That’s pretty impressive for a race car weighing only 1,250kg.
Maranello’s Vision Gran Turismo features insane aero solutions with a beautiful bodywork that drapes itself over the wheels, creating huge open side channels that direct airflow around the cockpit and over the side pods. And even though this car was only developed for a game on PlayStation, Ferrari still patented this aero solution.
