Enata Marine Introduces the Futuristic Foiler USV: An Autonomous Speed Machine Redefining Sailing

Enata Marine, known for its groundbreaking Foiler flying yacht in 2018, is once again pushing the boundaries of innovation with its latest creation—the Foiler USV (Unmanned Surface Vehicle)—a sleek and self-sailing marvel. This UAE-based outfit has seamlessly blended cutting-edge technology with the signature W-foil design, taking the concept of autonomous sailing to new and exhilarating heights.
Drawing inspiration from its acclaimed predecessor, the 32-foot Foiler USV shares the same extraordinary W-foil feature, enabling it to gracefully soar five feet above the water’s surface. The result is a remarkably smooth and serene cruising experience, combined with awe-inspiring speeds. The Foiler USV boasts a top speed of 40 knots and a cruising speed of 30 knots, achieved through the integration of two V-8 turbo-diesel Nanni engines, boasting a combined output of 740 hp. However, Enata Marine is actively exploring alternative propulsion options using various fuel types.

Not content with just remarkable speed, the Foiler USV stands out with its impressive range, boasting the capability to cover an astonishing 1,243 miles on a single tank while cruising between 25 to 30 knots. Adding to its allure is the Wingman command and control software, designed by the builder, which seamlessly manages the operation of the foils and effortlessly performs simple automated tasks, eliminating the need for additional systems.
This versatility opens up a myriad of possibilities for the 32-foot USV, including roles in monitoring and patrol missions. The vessel can even be paired with drone UAVs and other surveillance equipment, highlighting its potential in coastal security and extended-range mission profiles.
Enata’s director, Alois Vieujot, emphasized the Foiler USV’s potential for military clients, citing its unparalleled performance, range, and autonomous capabilities. From the shores of Naples, Italy, this visionary craft can effortlessly reach destinations across the Mediterranean, from Gibraltar to the Aegean, and even Port Said in Egypt.
While initially developed for military applications, Enata Marine is considering future offerings of the Foiler USV to private owners, making this cutting-edge technology accessible to a broader audience. Currently, production is underway, with a fully operational demonstrator set to launch in late 2023 or early 2024, promising an extraordinary experience that will redefine high-speed foiling yachts.
