When you can’t decide between Italian and American cuisine, why not have both? Just about two years after it’s introduction to the Long Island culinary scene, Prime 1024 has impressed local patrons with it’s lust-worthy mix of food and glamorously contemporary decor.
The Concept & Cuisine
From the Spyropoulos family, co-owners of recently reviewed Oniro Taverna and the dazzling Limani restaurant in Roslyn, comes a hybrid restaurant concept that is all the bit enchanting. Different from the mediterranean style dining available at the group’s other restaurants, Prime 1024 is a mix of Italian classics coupled with American steakhouse staples. And while it may seem unconventional, it works. The eclectic menu features a mix of hand made pastas, authentic hand tossed pizzas, and fresh seafood alongside perfectly cooked steaks. Using traditional Italian techniques with extra fresh ingredients prepared by skilled and well experienced chefs is the special touch that let’s the cuisine stand out. We can admit, sometimes it’s best to focus on just one thing – but this is not one of those times. Plus, there really is no need to compromise when you can have the best of both worlds under one roof. In the evolving hospitality space, creating a memorable experience that is out of the ordinary can be a good thing; and when it’s executed as brilliantly as Prime 1024, it deserves recognition.
Take the Tuna Tartare for example; an artistic flair elevates this dish beyond the ordinary by adding a thin bread cracker balanced atop the avocado, garnished with micro greens. Even the arugula salad, although very straightforward in it’s presentation, was delightfully seasoned and balanced with tomatoes and parmigiano. As one of the evening specials on the given night of our visit, Halibut was paired with baked clams, bacon, and fingerling potatoes that we chose to pair with a steak – which might we add was cooked perfectly.
Experience the Setting
Located directly on Northern Boulevard just a half block away from the iconic Americana Manhasset, Prime 1024 occupies a free-standing modern building that has been beautifully decorated to accommodate it’s tasteful customers. The tall and well-lit ceiling with chandeliers brightens up a space consisting of dark grey walls and wooden floors, featuring velvet crescent seating around the perimeter. One might say it’s somewhat of an uptown vibe, with just the right balance of sophistication and modern class. A double facing bar wall with a sleek modern fireplace design sets the vibe on any given night – where you can count on the restaurant buzzing with locals for an enjoyable night out.
