L’Appart: A Taste of France in the Heart of New York City

L'Appart NYC Dining Room

Nestled in the heart of New York City, L’Appart is a culinary experience that transports diners to the streets of Paris. This French restaurant, located on the floor of Le District in Brookfield Place, boasts a breathtaking view of the Hudson River and the Statue of Liberty. From the moment you step into the restaurant through a subtle door in the food district, you are greeted with an elegant and sophisticated atmosphere.

The restaurant’s interior design is reminiscent of a Parisian apartment, complete with antique furnishings. The open kitchen allows diners to watch as the chefs expertly prepare each dish. The menu at L’Appart is a showcase of classic French cuisine with a modern twist, using the freshest and highest-quality ingredients available.

Depending on the season – or month rather – the menu at L’Appart rotates to reflect of-the-moment delicacies. Selecting in season ingredients and putting an elegant twist on their preparation creates an entirely new dining experience each and every time you visit. Guests can enjoy 12 entirely new menus from start to finish each month of the year.

A few of the restaurant’s standout starters have included the Escargots de Bourgogne. These classic French snails are served with garlic and parsley butter and a side of warm bread for dipping. Another impressive dish is the Foie Gras Torchon, served with fig jam, toasted brioche, and fleur de sel. The torchon is rich and decadent, and the fig jam provides the perfect balance of sweetness.
For the main course, the Canard à l’Orange is a classic French dish that does not disappoint. The duck breast is perfectly cooked, with a crispy skin and juicy meat, and the orange sauce is a delicious accompaniment. Another standout dish is the Sole Meunière, a classic French preparation of sole filets, brown butter, and lemon juice. The dish is simple, yet elegant, and showcases the high-quality ingredients used in each dish. New for this month is the Californian Muscovy Duck Breast. The duck is poached in the classic apicius spice mix, then pan seared and glazed with a reduction of Catskills Mountain wine, and apicius spice mix. Served with a medjool date condiment and roasted salsify deglazed with verjus.

The dessert menu at L’Appart is just as impressive as the rest of the menu. The Tarte Tatin is a classic French dessert that is executed perfectly at L’Appart. The warm and flaky pastry is topped with caramelized apples and a scoop of vanilla ice cream. The Paris-Brest is another standout dessert, made with choux pastry, hazelnut praline cream, and caramel sauce. L’Appart also offers an extensive wine list, with a focus on French wines. The knowledgeable sommelier can help you find the perfect wine to pair with your meal.

One unique aspect of L’Appart is its Chef’s Table. This intimate dining experience allows diners to sit at the chef’s counter and watch as the chefs prepare a custom tasting menu. The Chef’s Table can accommodate up to four people and must be reserved in advance. In Addition to the Chef’s Table, L’Appart also offers private dining options for groups of up to 70 people. The restaurant’s private dining room is elegant and can be customized to fit the needs of any event.
