The inaugural foray of Fabio Fantolino into the realm of yachting takes form within the opulent confines of Azimut’s latest masterpiece, the Fly 72. Crafted with an exterior vision conceived by the esteemed Alberto Mancini, this vessel represents Azimut’s dedication to the evolution of its flybridge collection.
Azimut’s Fly 72, introduced to the world at the prestigious Cannes Yachting Festival alongside the Magellano 60 and Verve 48, additionally graced the stage at the illustrious Genoa International Boat Show, solidifying Azimut’s powerful presence in the maritime world.
Distinguishing itself with a novel hull configuration, the Fly 72 stands as another testament to Mancini’s masterful work in reshaping the flybridge line. His design expertise extends to other models such as the 53 and 68. Mancini’s innovative touch is not limited to these models; it also extends to the esteemed Grande and S series, notably the S7, whose dazzling debut took place at Boot Dusseldorf in January, followed by captivating appearances at Cannes and Genoa in September.
Stretching to an impressive length of 74 feet and 1 inch, with a beam of 18 feet and 5 inches, the Fly 72 is propelled by a pair of robust 1,400mhp MAN CR V12 engines. These powerhouses afford a thrilling top speed of up to 31 knots, with a comfortable cruising velocity of 26 knots. On the deck, a C-shaped sofa accompanies an adaptable table in the cockpit, while the foredeck boasts a matching C-shaped sofa, paired with an expansive, versatile sunpad.
The flybridge welcomes guests with a plethora of lounging spaces on the port side, commencing with chaise longues at the stern, followed by a C-shaped dinette midship, culminating in additional sunbathing territory towards the bow, adjacent to the twin-seat helm. To the starboard, an L-shaped wet bar presents itself, with the enticing prospect of a rising television. Plush sofas with generously cushioned contours adorn all of the outdoor areas, reinforcing the yacht’s promise of comfort.
Fantolino, renowned for his expertise in designing residences and hospitality spaces, with studios gracing Turin and Milan, has orchestrated an interior that exudes warmth and sophistication. He has artfully blended textured fabrics and leather, accentuated by earthy hues such as brown and tan, and elevated by the inclusion of opulent materials like bronze and lustrous lacquers, creating a striking contrast that resonates throughout.
The interior journey embarks in the saloon, housing an L-shaped sofa on the port side, complemented by a two-seat settee to starboard. The dining tableau takes its place midship to starboard, adjoining a comprehensively equipped galley on the port side, designed to offer both enclosure and openness as per one’s preference. Forward, to the starboard, a twin-seat helm takes its position, while to the port side, an elevated dinette furnished with opposing sofas awaits, promising captivating moments with a view.
The lower deck introduces four luxurious guest cabins, each featuring a private en-suite. These include a sumptuous full-beam master suite located midship, a VIP cabin at the bow, a twin cabin to starboard, and a double cabin to port. To cater to the crew, there’s also accommodation for two in the aft quarters.
