The illustrious Canadian-American luminary brought his visionary touch to the Maison, crafting a booth that mesmerized visitors with Gehry’s exceptional handbag designs within the distinct framework of LV’s style.
Inspired by Gehry’s essential design tools—wood and cardboard models—the exhibit beautifully encapsulated four distinct themes: Architecture and Form, Material Exploration, Animals, and his celebrated Twisted Box design for the “Celebrating Monogram” collection.
This highly-anticipated collaboration unveiled a limited-edition collection of handbags to a global audience. The capsule collection included designs inspired by Louis Vuitton’s iconic Capucines bags, the distinctive Twisted Box Trunk, and an extraordinary Bear With Us Clutch, drawing inspiration from Gehry’s captivating Bear with Us sculpture.
The attention immediately gravitated towards the Capucines Mini Blossom, a captivating piece featuring mesmerizing glass-like resin petals reminiscent of perfume bottles. Its design showcased the signature hammered LV emblem, echoing the iconic Fondation Louis Vuitton building in Paris.
Adding to the allure were the Capucines MM Floating Fish, evoking the piscine lamps exhibited at the LV headquarters, and the striking Capucines MM Concrete Pockets. The latter featured 3D cement-effect screen printing, mirroring the architectural constructions associated with Frank Gehry. The exhibit also showcased Gehry’s influence on LV’s Les Extraits perfume bottles, featuring unique stoppers meticulously handcrafted in Murano, Italy. Moreover, the exhibit displayed a curated selection of sketches, models, and maquettes for the Fondation Louis Vuitton in Paris.
