12 years after the premier of the first ever Audi R8 GT, Audi Sport has now revealed a new addition to their exclusive super sports car bloodline: Introducing the new Audi R8 Coupé V10 GT RWD.
The new German supercar has a 5.2-liter, naturally-aspirated V10 which produces a total of 620 HP, making it the most powerful rear-wheel drive unit ever build by the brand. As a result, the new R8 GT accelerates to 100 km/h (62 mph) in 3.4 seconds, reaches the 200 km/h (124 mph) mark in just 10.1 seconds, and reaches a top speed of up to 320 km/h (199 mph).
The R8 GT also features a new seven-speed dual-clutch transmission, which works in perfect harmony with a “Torque Rear” driving mode to perfect and control oversteering. The Torque Rear has 7 different levels each offering a different amount of slippage and support. Level 1 allows little slippage for example, while level 7 allows a lot of slippage. The driver can select the desired torque rear level by turning the control satellite on the steering wheel.
To further differentiate the new Audi R8 V10 GT RWD from its relatives, Audi has added a carbon aerokit in high-gloss finishing to ensure optimal downforce which generates better road-stability as well as faster cornering speeds. The Carbon Aerokit consists of the following parts: front splitter, flics, side skirt covers, cW-elements on the sides of the rear bumper, a diffuser, and a rear wing with gooseneck suspension.
Another distinguishing feature is the black “R8 GT” lettering on the rear. All other emblems are in black as well. The interior crafted in black and red pays hommage to the first R8 GT from 2010, which was only available in this colour way.
Only 333 pieces of the new Audi R8 Coupé V10 GT RWD will be made and the car is expected to arrive in 2023 for a price starting from from $222,000 USD.
