BMW has recently divulged a sneak preview of the future of its core brand with the introduction of the BMW Vision Neue Klasse — an entirely electric conceptual automobile, purportedly poised to bridge the gap between tangible and virtual realms via state-of-the-art iDrive technology of the next generation.
First exposed at the IAA Mobility 2023 International Motor Show in Munich, Oliver Zipse, BMW AG’s Chairman of the Board of Management, stated, “The BMW Vision Neue Klasse amalgamates our capability to pioneer in the fundamental domains of electrification, digitalization, and circularity,” appending, “Thus, we consistently manage to stay two steps ahead of the forthcoming epoch: The Neue Klasse is already propelling the mobility of the ensuing decade onto the thoroughfares by 2025 – effectively guiding BMW into a fresh era.”The car’s exterior is characterized by expansive expanses and distinctive contours, embodying signature design idioms such as the BMW kidney grille and Hofmeister kink, augmenting its distinctive BMW ambiance.
The vehicle’s “luminous” exterior finish, suffused with a subtle tincture of yellow, was meticulously chosen to encapsulate a futuristic and affable persona as per the automaker’s assertion, with a playful reference inscribed onto the lower side fender, reading “the future is radiant.” In addition, the interior touts the forthcoming-gen BMW iDrive, vowing a digital user experience that seamlessly melds the genuine and virtual realms via sophisticated amusement and security attributes.
Innovations such as E Ink elements on the lateral windows and 3D-printed taillight components that span across multiple tiers are merely a few of the modernized design constituents showcased via the Neue Klasse. Internally, the forthcoming-gen BMW iDrive experience takes center stage, with analog controls predominantly being supplanted by the BMW Panoramic Vision and Central Display, intended to redefine driver orientation.
Regarding technical specifications, the sixth-generation eDrive technology is purported to enhance charging velocity and elevate vehicle mileage by up to 30 percent, translating to an all-encompassing vehicular efficiency upswing of as much as 25 percent when juxtaposed with the previous-gen eDrive.
