BMW’s New iX Flow Color Changing Car Uses “E-Ink” Technology

For decades, BMW has revolutionized the car industry in ways that have blown our minds, from comfortable luxury sedans to lightweight, track monsters that leave their competition in the dust. In January of 2022, the German car manufacturer unveiled its new production model that strays onto a path that has never been seen before by any other car company. The BMW “iX Flow” has an uncanny ability to change colors instantly, thanks to its “E-Ink” technology, just like an octopus would camouflage in the wild! According to BMW, when stimulated by electrical signals, the electrophoretic technology brings different color pigments to the surface, causing the body panels to take on the desired coloration. The fluid color changes are made possible by a specially developed body wrap similar to the material used in an Amazon Kindle E-Reader that’s tailored to the contours of the all-electric vehicle.

The unique “IX Flow” also features a massive 31-inch theatre screen tv in the second row that outputs and outstanding 8k display and reliable 5G connectivity for wherever you roam. To add onto BMW’s wild and exciting entertainment system, when the car is put into “theater mode” The interior lights up turning the car into a private cinema lounge. With access to many streaming services on this colossal screen, BMW will attract a whole new niche of customers that have been looking for something exactly like this. Watching manufacturers push the boundaries of implementing technology into road-going vehicles, it leaves much room for thought and question to see what the future has in store for all consumers, and how it will tie into our everyday lives. BMW doesn’t want prospective buyers to worry about their next car’s color or what movies are playing at the theater, making it as straightforward as possible through innovative software updates.
