The Wallace Lounge, a chic piano bar, and lounge opened on March 1st, 2023, at the Wallace Hotel on West 76th Street. Idea Creator and Operator Andrea Loscalzo, the owner of Salumeria Rosi, saw an opportunity to promote the neighborhood’s cultural scene and envisioned a cocktail bar and piano lounge at the site.
Incorporating opera, jazz, and theatre into his live music performances, Andrea aimed to enhance creativity and enrich the art of live music at The Wallace Lounge. The lounge’s intimate atmosphere and exceptional service impressed guests on the opening night, who enjoyed the talented musicians and singers.
Since its opening, The Wallace Lounge has become a popular destination in the Upper West Side for music lovers and cocktail enthusiasts, regularly hosting live music performances and serving an impressive selection of cocktails, wines, and spirits. The lounge has firmly established itself as a must-visit destination, successfully promoting the neighborhood’s cultural scene.
This is the perfect spot for the neighborhood to enjoy fantastic music, cocktails, and light fare in a beautifully designed room for a night out or as a pre-and post-theater stop because it is just a block from the Beacon Theater and a short stroll from Lincoln Center.
A brass mesh drape separates the Wallace Lounge from the hotel lobby. Deep blue walls with walnut wood tambour accents decorate the lounge room, which also contains royal blue, brown, and forest green velvet seats, a Lilac Marble fireplace, and an Ingo Hofmann tuned and repaired 5’9″ Mason & Hamlin grand piano that was made in 1926. This lounge area’s Neo-Deco design ties the concept with the history of the hotel. A stunning dark wood and leather service bar serves as the focal point of the bar area and is positioned in front of a hand-painted mural with a botanical theme created by renowned artist Jean Larson.
Andrea is utilizing his history in hospitality, which has assisted in making Salumeria Rosi a local institution and sustaining its high standards for both service and food, to craft the experience for The Wallace Lounge. He has appointed Sommelier Chris Miller (The Lambs Club) to create the wine program and Beverage Director Simon Sebbah (Grand Tour Hospitality) to create the cocktail program.
The Wallace Martini, a choice of Grey Goose or Tanqueray No. 10, dry vermouth, and bitters is the house signature cocktail of the Cocktail Program. Which was created for connoisseurs to indulge in the classics with a twist. The remaining drinks are parodies of classic libations, such as The Gin & Tonic, made with Amazzoni Tropical Gin, grapefruit, and tonic water; UWS Sparks, made with St-Germain, yellow grapefruit, bitters, and Champagne; and the Baka Martini, made with Grey Goose, olive brine, and caviar.
Indulge in Gourmet Snacks and Warm Bites
The menu of small snacks has been properly selected by Andrea to go well with the sophisticated cocktail and wine programs. A carefully curated assortment of imported salumi and cheeses from Salumeria Rosi can be found in the Snacks section. Hickory gets highlighted by cold bites. The Wallace Garden offers fresh salsa verde prepared with parsley, anchovies, vinegar, capers, and egg yolk along with colorful seasonal vegetable crudites. Smoked Beef Tartare is served on a rice cracker and is topped with a poached quail egg, gold leaf, and nasturtiums.
The following items are included in Warm Bites: Tempura Shrimp, which are four enormous prawns deep-fried in a light rice flour batter and served with ponzu aioli; Wagyu Beef Sliders, which are two 2-ounce wagyu beef patties topped with brie cheese, lettuce, tomato, and smoked sauce on a brioche bun; Classic Club Sandwich, which is a double-layered sandwich with grilled chicken, tomato, lettuce, honey-glazed bacon, and mayonnaise; and Truffle Potato Croquettes, which are served with truffle mayonnaise and topped with thinly-sliced fresh black truffle.
