Since taking over the reins in 2005, Belmond has been revered for its lavish offering of the Royal Scotsman. Just in time for the start of its 2023 season, the grand train has added a new tier of luxury with the opening of its exclusive onboard Dior Spa.
The Royal Scotsman carriage will be completely occupied by the Dior Spa as a result of an exclusive partnership between the two companies. The famous burgundy toile de Jouy pattern from Dior has been incorporated into the redesign of two treatment rooms.
Three custom-made services created especially to complement train travel are now available at the new spa on board the Royal Scotsman. One of them is the D-Travel body massage, which is a deep, slow massage targeting the elimination of toxins and relieving any muscle pain or tension. The D-Highlands procedure uses traditional Kobido facial massage methods to give the face a more sculpted appearance and enhance skin texture.
Moreover, the 2023 season brings two new expert-led culinary and adventure itineraries, namely the Highland Survival Adventure and A Taste of Scotland with Tom Kitchin. The Highland Survival Adventure trip is a roundtrip from Edinburgh, taking place from June 30 to July 3, which challenges guests to complete a modern-day Royal Marines Commando Assault Training program across the Western Highlands.
In contrast to the physically demanding Highland Survival Adventure, the Taste of Scotland experience promises a more relaxed itinerary. Chef Kitchin will treat guests to a series of exceptional dining experiences from September 4 to 6, each showcasing his distinctive “From Nature to Plate” philosophy and highlighting the best Scottish ingredients.
The itinerary also includes a whisky masterclass at the Benromach distillery and an onboard wine tasting with local wine merchants, in addition to a barbecue lunch in the Cairngorms National Park and a lavish closing Gala dinner.
The launch of the Royal Scotsman’s new Dior Spa and itineraries precedes the introduction of the train’s latest accommodations, the Grand Suites. The new suites, set to join in 2024, will feature double bedrooms with ensuite bathrooms and a private living area. Guests will also have access to a host of extra services.
Chef Tom Kitchin will host a memorable gourmet feast honoring the best of Scotland’s land and sea. Chef Kitchin is passionate about celebrating the Scottish larder and the wonderful game, meat, seafood, vegetables, and fruits that can be found throughout the country.
