A remarkable milestone has been achieved in Abu Dhabi as a luxurious penthouse fetched a staggering AED 137 million (US$37.3 million) in a recent sale.
Located within the Nobu Residences on Saadiyat Island, this three-bedroom residence has now etched its name as the priciest apartment ever sold in the city, as per Aldar, the project’s developer. Spanning an impressive 1,430 square meters (approximately 15,400 square feet), the unit has also clinched the record for the highest price per square meter in Abu Dhabi’s history, exceeding AED 96,000.
Perched atop the development, which is slated to become one of the Middle East’s pioneer branded residences under the esteemed luxury hospitality group Nobu, renowned for its upscale dining establishments, the penthouse is set to be finalized in the second quarter of 2027.
Describing the groundbreaking transaction, Talal Al Dhiyebi, group CEO at Aldar, remarked, “This milestone not only establishes a new standard for residential real estate in Abu Dhabi but also underscores the maturity of the real estate market.”
He continued, “Year after year, we witness robust growth in both the volume and value of property acquisitions, driven by government policies and initiatives that have heightened Abu Dhabi’s allure as a desirable residential and investment destination.”
While the identity of the buyer remains undisclosed, the new owner of the penthouse will enjoy a plethora of top-tier amenities, including a private pool, a fitness studio, and panoramic vistas encompassing the forthcoming Guggenheim Museum, slated for completion in 2025, and Saadiyat Beach.
Additionally, residents will have access to a personalized wellness sanctuary and a chef Nobu Matsuhisa-inspired kitchen tailored for hosting lavish gatherings. Each resident will embark on a bespoke design journey to customize the finishing touches of their interior architecture.
The penthouse sale isn’t the sole headline-grabbing transaction at the development, which will comprise one-to-three-bedroom apartments, penthouses, lofts, and sky villas alongside a 125-key hotel. Recently, a four-bedroom duplex sky villa exchanged hands for AED 130 million, according to the developer.
