The ongoing transformation of Lotus to a truly global performance car brand has reached its most significant milestone yet. With the introduction of the brand new “Lotus Eletre-R” the British automotive company carving out its place in the electric vehicle world. The Eletre takes the heart and soul of the latest Lotus sports car – the Emira – and the revolutionary aero performance of the all-electric Evija hypercar, and reinterprets them as a Hyper-SUV.
The new hyper all-electric SUV features a battery capacity that’s over 100kWh and with power from 600hp all the way up to almost 900hp. In combination with a 726 pound-feet of torque It goes from 0 to 62 mph in less than three seconds and can reach a top speed of 161 mph. The car’s target maximum driving range is c.600 km and a 350kW charger will deliver a 400 km (248 miles) range in just 20 minutes.
The Lotus Eletre-R also features the most advanced active aerodynamics package on any production SUV, active air suspension, torque vectoring, an active front grille, LED headlights, and 22-inch wheels. The Eletre represents the reinvention of Lotus and marks the birth of a new icon into the Lotus stable.
The Lotus Eletre line is set to debut in the United Kingdom next summer priced at 120,000 GBP (approximately $138,000 USD).
