10 Items Every (Fashion) Girl Needs in Her Wardrobe – A Spring/Summer Shopping Guide

We’re only a few days into the New Year but there’s nothing like a wardrobe refresh to accelerate our optimism for 2021. Emerging from what was – to say the least – a tumultuous 2020, we’re dusting off the old and welcoming in the new, and this sentiment is extending into our wardrobes too. Whether you’ve mastered your work from home style, or you’re overhauling your look this year, our list of the 10 Items Every (Fashion) Girl Needs in Her Wardrobe will set you up for fashion wins from January to December and everything in between, and create a versatile capsule collection that you can mix and match.

  1. Saint Laurent Leather Trench Coat

The classic trench coat – but with an edge. Everyone should have an easy-to-wear-immediately-go-to trench in their wardrobe for a smart casual, no hassle look, and the best thing about this? You’re hitting two 2021 trends on the head with one piece! The monochromatic look comes straight off the runway from designers such as Gabriela Hearst & Loewe and works well paired with crisp whites.

Prada Cleo Bag - Light Green Leather Spring Shoulder Bag

2. Prada Cleo Bag

The most coveted bag of the season just took on a whole new look. Incorporating the new flap design this medium-sized “go bag”, it’s perfect for all your “pop to the shop” needs whilst still fitting everything you need inside. Prada has taken off in the past year and has become the epitome and essence of the “cool girl”, and the sorbet pastel colour is perfect for spring (and is an official 2021 colour). The bag itself is a winner – exuding a minimalist, elegant feel while still maintaining its on-trend persona.

Ganni Light Pink Hoodie Sweatshirt - Women's Loungewear Spring 2021

3. Ganni Hoodie & Track Pants

Lounge and leisurewear still reign supreme this year just as much so as it did last. As most of the world still remains at home, comfort is key, and a cosy set in one of the seasons most coveted colours – yes, pink – has been hailed by everyone you’d call part of the “fashion pack”. Wear at home whilst dressed down, or style up with a structured coat and heeled boots. Viola!

Gold Chain Bracelet

4. Elhanati Gold Chain bracelet

This trend has been around for a while but we’re maximising our gold jewellery this year in order to create a statement. According to Harper’s Bazaar the trend can be seen “from thick chains to sizeable arm candy” with jewellery that have “unique shapes and textures”. With the versatility of gold jewellery this is a trend that’s very worth investing in, and the Elhanati bracelet is the perfect addition to your collection.

5. Marni Block Sandals

From Birkenstocks to Isabel Marant, right up to Chanel every brand has released their own fashion forward pair of the dad sandal, and it’s a staple that’s not going away. Not only reserved for the summer, the sandals also (complete with a chunky soul for ultimate comfort) add a relaxed look to any outfit and are good staple footwear option for when you’re just stepping out.

6. Wardrobe NYC Double Breasted Blazer

If you’ve struggled in previous years to find your perfect blazer then look no further, sporting and accentuated shoulder style this double-breasted blazer will be a wardrobe staple and last you years. Whether you’ll be raiding your boyfriends, husbands, dads or brothers wardrobe the line between feminine and masculine clothing has officially been blurred. Whether you’ll be wearing it on your zoom calls whilst working from home or throwing it over a pair of track pants and a simple T-shirts to elevate your look, the blazer is the one item to swear by and it’s a look that’s not going anywhere any time soon.

7. Loulou Puff-Sleeve Shirt

Love the trend or not the puff sleeve shirts are making a triumphant return for 2021, and you do not want to miss out on this. Taking inspiration from shows such as Bridgerton, the Regency style clothing has erupted and made a re-emergence onto our fashion radars and is making its way into our wardrobes alongside pieces like corsets (as seen in Givenchy, Richard Malone and Philosophy di Lorenzo Serafini’s SS21 runways). Look to this trend as your entry point to creating complete 180 of your wardrobes, make a statement and begin a simple transition out of loungewear.

8. Victoria Beckham Straight Leg Jean

Long gone are the days of super skinny jeans and skin-tight pants, we welcome the rise of the wide leg denim. Sticking to all things comfortable (because sometimes sweatpants get boring) jeans with a little extra room are set to be a wardrobe staple for Spring 2021 as seen on a host of fashion girls including Bella Hadid, Kaia Garber, and the Queen of the straight leg jeans herself Victoria Beckham.

9. Amina Muaddi Knee High Boots

No one does a shoe like Amina Muaddi! This cult footwear designer has collaborated with the likes of Rihanna, her social currency is through the roof and means that her collections are still the most sought-after heels by the fashion pack. Introducing a new silhouette to her collection, her range of boots (from wedges to her classic Amina wide heel) are set to be a wardrobe staple the whole year – but really make the most of them as whilst the weather remains chilly!

10. Bottega Veneta Belt Bag

Taking on three of SS21 is trends (the compact bag, sorbet pastel shades and the chunky belt) this Bottega Veneta bag is one you do not want to miss. Continuing on the hype from the Bottega Veneta cloud clutch (which I still recommend as a wardrobe staple) the belt bag is simplicity and style personified and holds you in all the right places. This colour and style have been seen time and time again by influential bloggers such as Leonie Hanne, and word is she has it pegged as the style (and colour) of the season, well then who are we to object?
