Chanel’s creative leader, Virginie Viard, had freedom as her main inspiration for the Spring/Summer 2024 Ready-to-Wear collection. She wanted to express a story that started in the gardens of Villa Noailles.
Viard transported us to the beautiful hills of Hyères, where Villa Noailles showcases modern architectural brilliance. Designed in 1923 by the famous architect Robert Mallet-Stevens, the terraced gardens offer a scenic backdrop that’s like a living painting. The South-facing villa, with its unique garden and sunken flower beds, served as the muse for the Spring-Summer 2024 Ready-to-Wear collection. This collection breathes life into an exceptional vision of elegance and casual style, filled with light, color, geometric patterns, and delightful mixtures of asymmetry, patchworks, lines, checks, and stripes — all of which are close to Viard’s heart.
The collection is a blend of silhouettes made from dynamic fabrics, including the iconic tweed. Viard aimed to combine sophistication with informality, merging the worlds of sportswear and lace in a chic way. The beautiful gardens and swimming pool of Villa Noailles perfectly complement this unique collection.
This spirit of freedom is evident throughout the collection, from short dresses and sunray pleated tops to striped Bermuda shorts and casually worn double-breasted jackets. The collection captures the essence of summer dressing with low waistlines, flat shoes, lightweight suits, cardigans worn as dresses, relaxed trousers, wide-leg shorts, and more.
