The entrepreneur and rapper show extravagant timepieces.
As they say, a person’s watch collection can reveal a lot about them, and rapper and record executive Rick Ross is a prime example of this. Large, audacious, and shamelessly extravagant, Ross’s collection of multimillion-dollar timepieces is a testament to his success as well as his willingness to brag about the achievements of his labors. “I was always naturally attracted to watches. In an exclusive video that takes us through a few of his favorite pieces, Ross says, “Then when I saw what they represented, it only made sense.” “Everyone in a room knows what time it is when I walk in without me having to say a word.”
Though it might sound exaggerated, a peek inside Ross’s Louis Vuitton watch case demonstrates that he has lived up to his words. Within are two Rolex Day Dates completely adorned with diamonds and a Patek Philippe Nautilus. In addition, he wears a $3 million Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Selfwinding 50th Anniversary edition in “head-to-toe” emeralds, complete with matching green Louis Vuitton sneakers.
Certain pieces, such as the latter, are purely decorative and showcase exquisite Swiss watchmaking, craftsmanship, and gem settings. Others are private, like his Hublot Big Bang with diamond accents. Ross claims that a few years ago, on his birthday, Dr. Dre gave him the watch. In the meantime, a collector striving for technical mastery and high-powered showmanship can be seen in a custom Jacob & Co. The Mystery Tourbillon. The owner of Jacob & Co., Jacob Arabov, also gave Ross a $120,000 blue titanium Epic X Chrono Tourbillon, which the rapper claims he will wear to the beach.
Beneath all the bluster, however, is a fervent collector who claims to have been collecting since childhood and who loves G-Shock watches just as much as he does watches costing six and seven figures.
