Aman has announced Amantaru, a new resort and collection of branded residences set on a hillside overlooking the southwest coast of Puerto Rico, within the 2,000-acre Esencia community in Cabo Rojo. The project, developed by Three Rules Capital in partnership with Reuben Brothers, marks Aman’s fourth destination in the Caribbean and its first in Puerto Rico. Designed by Marwan Al-Sayed of MASASTUDIO, Amantaru will offer both a resort and an exclusive range of three- to eight-bedroom Aman Residences positioned on a secluded stretch of sand beside a protected nature reserve.
The residences, each ranging from 8,968 to 24,904 square feet, are described as an “exceptional expression of Aman living” and are designed to maximize privacy and connection to the ocean and landscape. Each home has a private swimming pool, expansive terraces, and uninterrupted views of the sea, with architecture that draws on Puerto Rico’s historic forts while maintaining Aman’s restrained, organic design language. The project’s material palette and open spaces are intended to foster what Aman calls a “sense of harmony with nature.”
Amantaru’s amenities will include a dedicated Aman Spa and Wellness centre, a Beach Club, racquet sports facilities, and several dining venues offering both signature and local cuisine. Owners and guests will have access to Esencia’s broader amenities, including two championship golf courses, an equestrian center, a Racquet & Field Club, and scenic trails through the coastal landscape. A private airport five minutes from the site provides convenient access.

Vlad Doronin, chairman and CEO of Aman Group, stated, “We are looking forward to expanding our Caribbean presence with a destination that embodies Aman’s core values of seclusion, serenity and sensitive integration with the environment.” He added, “The success of our existing and renowned properties in the region has proven that there is a growing demand for a new level of exclusivity and I’m excited to bring the coveted Aman lifestyle to Puerto Rico for the first time through our exclusive collection of branded residences alongside a resort.”
The location in Cabo Rojo is known for its pristine beaches, salt flats, and protected wildlife, offering opportunities for swimming, kayaking, paddleboarding, and diving on nearby coral reefs. Inland, the region’s forests and historic towns invite further exploration. Amantaru’s place within Esencia brings guests and owners close to the natural surroundings and activities both on the water and inland.
Aman describes Amantaru as shaped by its setting, with the materials, views, and layout all chosen to reflect the physical environment and the brand’s approach to calm and privacy. The resort and residences are positioned to take in the ocean and the protected nature reserve, with the design aiming to create a direct link between the indoors and the outdoors. The calm waters near the property are suited for swimming and water sports, while the forests and waterfalls inland add to the range of activities available.
The Esencia community, where Amantaru is located, covers more than 2,000 acres and includes not only the Aman property but also other facilities and destinations. The wider area offers two championship golf courses, a Racquet & Field Club, equestrian facilities, and several dining options. Trails cross the grounds, and the private airport nearby is intended to make arrivals and departures more convenient for guests and owners.
Aman hasn’t released an opening date or pricing for Amantaru. Those interested in learning more about residence ownership or the resort are invited to contact Aman for updates as the project develops.
