An Iconic Holiday Tree at The Royal Poinciana Plaza By Iris Apfel

Recently a picture of a Christmas-type tree with big black eyeglasses has surfed on social media and got the attention of people throughout the world.

This Holiday Tree is placed at The Royal Poinciana Plaza, which is on an island near Pompano beach, known for its trendiest upscale shopping destinations and home to beloved luxury retailers.

The tree is decorated with surfboards which are perpetual features, with round black eyeglasses and multiple strands of large turquoise beads. On each surfboard, there is a presentation of pictures and writings which make them clearly remarkable. This masterpiece is a colorful repertoire and is designed by Iris Apfel.

Iris Apfel, aged 101-year-old is a well-known American businesswoman, interior designer, and fashion icon. 

She is a recognized entrepreneur for her successful textile business, Old World Weavers, which she began with her husband Carl. She got massive fame post-2005 when she was exhibited as a subject at The Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Costume Institute. She is also a model, author, and eyewear designer

She is the only oldest person to have a barbie doll made in her image, created by Mattel.  

“I was very happy when I was approached to create an installation with The Royal earlier this year. What we have put together reflects my outlook on life – playful, colorful and, hilarious, and totally unique,” Apfel said, adding, “I hope everyone who sees this will smile and be inspired to go at their own pace.

Her designed Holiday tree will remain throughout the Holiday season at The Royal Poinciana Plaza.
