After many years that people have been waiting for the Tesla Cyber, Elon and his team was developing the Tesla Semi-Truck instead. After 5 years, semi-truck is soon to be released with the first 100 production models being delivered directly to Pepsi for testing.
Semi-truck gives its drivers much better visibility, safety features, lowers emission, it’s easier to drive and it’s quick. Elon Musk revealed that the semi-truck is able to pull and 82,000-pound load (37 metric tons) for 500 miles (804 km) on a single journey.
Elon musk who appeared on stage at Tesla’s Nevada plant said that it guarantees that the truck would not breakdown for 1,000,000 miles. That is because it has four independent motors which means you can lose two of those for motors and the truck will still keep going. In fact, even if you only have two of the four motors active it will still be a diesel truck. The semi-truck has other benefits to it’s brakes that are big deal for trucks, especially for this one that should be able to stop 82,000 pounds which is not easy. But because with an electric motor, you can turn the breaks into generators, every time you use the break, that kinetic energy of breaking goes straight back into the battery pack instead of heating and wearing down the brake pad. So basically, break pads last forever and you never need to replace them on the upcoming semi-truck.
Tesla semi-truck went through hot, cold, snow, rain, through all spaces in the lab as well as in the real world, and there’s a lot of positive feedback from it so far. Hopefully once it’s released to the public many companies and truck drivers can benefit from it.
