As the owner of Nusr-Et steakhouse totaling 14 locations across Turkey, the US, United Arab Emirates, and Qatar, Nusret has certainly made a name for himself around the globe.
Not only is Mr. Nusret Gökçe an excellent chef, he is an even better marketer. He has mastered the art of content creation and exposure using his energy of suave and effortless comedy with a touch of refined class. His viral videos showcase him cutting and handling meat with a unique style, and the finale of each video with his viral pose striking salt from his hand brushing off his raised elbow onto the meat.
From his videos going viral online, to just about every celebrity dining at his locations, customers line up at each restaurant to experience the Nusret charm for themselves. Gökçe’s beginnings were quite different then his current lifestyle and station as a global chef and internet phenom.
He was born in Erzurum, Turkey, to a Kurdish family. His father was a mineworker, and the family’s finances forced him to leave school in the 6th grade to work as a butcher’s apprentice in the Kadıköy district of Istanbul. He continued working in the kitchen, until the very day sharing his very first video on social media. The rest is history.
