Nestled in the serene landscape of the Lower Hudson Valley, within the majestic Catskills Mountains and just a short two-hour drive from bustling New York City, The Chatwal Lodge has long been regarded as an idyllic sanctuary for those seeking respite from the hustle and bustle of urban life. Now, this secluded haven unveils a trio of new treehouses, offering guests a one-of-a-kind opportunity to fully immerse themselves in the enchanting natural surroundings.
As a sister property to the esteemed The Chatwal in New York, The Chatwal Lodge already boasts an array of 11 suites and cottages scattered throughout the historic Chapin Estate, a sprawling former 18,000-acre wildlife reserve.
Perched 15 feet above the forest floor, the newly unveiled treehouses have been meticulously crafted to seamlessly blend into the verdant canopy. Each treehouse accommodates up to four guests, with a king-size bedroom on the main level and a queen Murphy bed nestled in the loft.
Expansive windows flood the interiors with natural light, offering breathtaking vistas of the tranquil Toronto Reservoir. Reflecting the lodge’s ethos of understated luxury, the treehouses feature inviting, earth-toned decor complemented by carefully curated furnishings, including petrified wood and mango root tables, as well as live-edge teak wood slabs.
Perfect for group getaways or family retreats, the treehouses at The Chatwal Lodge boast spacious living areas, lavish showers with heated floors, covered balconies, and outdoor decks equipped with gas fire pits. Despite their rustic charm, these accommodations are replete with luxurious touches such as Malin & Goetz bath amenities and fully stocked minibars.
Robert Mallia, Head of Architecture and Construction at Dream Hotels within Hyatt, shared insights into the design philosophy behind The Chatwal Lodge’s treehouses, describing them as an elevated interpretation of the traditional concept. Mallia emphasized the calming ambiance and seamless integration with nature that define these unique accommodations.
For guests seeking outdoor adventures, The Chatwal Lodge offers an array of activities ranging from fly fishing and forest bathing to snowshoeing and duckpin bowling. Additionally, plans are underway to unveil a state-of-the-art pool and spa in 2024, further enhancing the guest experience at this tranquil retreat.
