Oceanco Introduces Dual 262-Foot Superyachts in the Simply Custom Series

Oceanco, the Dutch superyacht builder, has unveiled the latest additions to its highly anticipated Simply Custom range, which comprises 17 262-foot superyachts. Originally announced at the Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show in October 2023, this series showcases the collaborative efforts of leading yacht designers to provide a diverse array of styles for owners. The most recent additions, named Storm and Portofino, are the brainchild of H2 Yacht Design.

Both superyachts feature a meticulously crafted, efficient hull designed by Lateral Naval Architects, maintaining a consistent hull design across all vessels in the Simply Custom series. With a gross tonnage ranging from approximately 2,500 to 2,700 GT, these yachts span five decks, offering expansive living spaces for entertainment and seven guest cabins. The owner’s stateroom is situated on the upper deck, while the six guest suites are located on the main deck.

In addition to their luxurious features, Storm and Portofino prioritize environmentally friendly cruising. The Simply Custom series emphasizes low-emission propulsion, with each yacht equipped with hybrid diesel-electric systems. Oceanco aims to future-proof these vessels, allowing for the integration of upcoming propulsion technologies as they become available.

Despite sharing common features, Storm and Portofino exhibit distinct characteristics. Storm boasts a sleek, aggressive profile, drawing inspiration from the timeless elegance of a Bentley coupe. Jonny Horsfield, the founder and creative director of H2 Yacht Design, describes its design as a fusion of flowing lines and a tapering aft end, evoking a sense of speed and elegance reminiscent of a bygone era.

Conversely, Portofino embodies the classic charm of the Italian fishing village it’s named after. The yacht’s design seamlessly blends timeless aesthetics with “ruthlessly modern” details, featuring a flared bow, a dramatically shaped transom, sculpted superstructure, tapered decks, and glass bulwarks.

A notable difference lies in the transom design: Storm features an open transom cascading down to the water, while Portofino includes a main deck pool that flows into the beach club below.

Horsfield emphasizes the flexibility of both designs to accommodate various client preferences. The Simply Custom series is strategically crafted to streamline and expedite the customization process for owners without compromising on quality. It appears to be a win-win solution for those seeking a personalized and top-tier superyacht experience.
